British Virgin Islands
Sailing Itinerary

Due to cool, consistent trade winds that blow through the Caribbean, with a wind direction of mostly East To West, Sopers Hole is an excellent starting point to begin your sailing vacation. It is also the closest port of entry for those travelling from St. Thomas to the British Virgin Islands.

Optional Noon Boarding or Sleep Aboard

Relax and unwind, spend a glorious evening onboard your yacht at Sopers Hole.
This location almost always guarantees a stunning sunset and everything at your fingertips.
Enjoy a variation of restaurants, a quaint coffee bar and excellent shopping as well a waterside
food market and dive shop. What a great start!

Day One – Norman Island

Adventure waits at Treasure Island, as it’s known in
the history books, where long ago pirate ships
scoured the caves and cliffs to find a secret
place to bury stolen treasure. Discover
spectacular underwater snorkel sites at The
Indians and The Caves. For a fun, Caribbean
party atmosphere visit to the infamous William
Thornton, nick named “Willy T,” a floating
replica of the old pirate ship. Alternatively,
enjoy idyllic conditions and some
relaxed family time at Pirates Beach
Bar.

“The Bight” is an ideal, calm
and protected overnight bay
where there are plenty of
mooring balls to hook on to.

Day Two – Peter Island

Wake up in paradise! Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, set your sails for Deadman Bay, internationally acclaimed as one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. Drop anchor in the crystal, clear water and explore ashore. One can take a trail over to White Bay or just laze around on the beach chairs provided for guests.

Next, hop in your dinghy and take a short ride to Dead Chest Island and then over to Great Harbor where you can hook a mooring ball for the night. Enjoy a tasty dinner aboard or sample the fare at the local beach restaurant.

Day Three - Cooper Island

Take a short sail to Salt Island to dive or snorkel the Wreck of the Rhone; then motor around to Cooper Island. Pick up a mooring ball in Manchioneel Bay for a light lunch then enjoy some spectacular snorkeling off Cistern point.

This sheltered reef is alive with juvenile fish of endless varieties. Alternatively, take a stroll on the beach, sit under a palm tree or just soak up the warm Caribbean sun. This is another great location for a stunning view of the setting sun. It's time to chill out in the lapping ocean waves with a delicious cocktail in hand.

Day Four – Virgin Gorda

It’s time to head to The Baths, which are located on the southern end of the beautiful island of Virgin Gorda. Experience a magical ambience of soft, white beach sand, crystal, clear waters and huge, granite boulders of volcanic origins. Explore through a maze of massive rocks, scenic grottos and water caves that offer natural beauty like no other. Enjoy an adventure hike on a trail that will take you to the top and opens up to a magnificent and breathtaking view.

It’s time to head to The North Sound. Experience a scenic sail past one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, known as Spring Bay. One can also provision at Spanish Town before coming into the North Sound. Spend the evening on a mooring ball or reserve dock space at Leverick Bay or The Bitter End. Enjoy great food, loads of entertainment, beach BBQ’s and Mocko Jumbies.

Day Five – The North Sound and Anegada

Spend the morning enjoying the sites of the North Sound, truly one of the most
outstanding natural harbors in the Caribbean. Head over to Saba Rock and
include a visit to the small museum, which is filled with historical artifacts.
Look out for the secondary anchor and a cannon from the Wreck of
the Rhone. Sail to Anegada to discover pristine, untouched
beauty above and below and savor delicious BBQ
lobster dinners on the beach. This is the island
for all that and much more adventure.

Day Six – Marina Cay

Set sail for Marina Cay and enjoy an evening of fun entertainment ashore or elect for a quiet, relaxed evening while sipping on your favorite cocktails. The comfortable trampolines up front make for the perfect nighttime star gazing spot onboard. On the way to Marina Cay are “The Dogs.” This is a popular dive site known as The Chimney and is located on the westernmost point of Great Dog where you can also enjoy a picnic lunch on the beach.

Day Seven –
Jost Van Dyke

From Marina Cay take an exhilarating sail on the north side of Tortola to Sandy Spit and Green Cay, two small islands of exceptional beauty. Take your pick of paradise and drop anchor for a few heavenly hours of beach time and fun in the sun. Great Harbor is ideal for those who would like to visit the famous Foxy’s Tamarind Bar. Enjoy true Caribbean Calypso music; however, beware of the infamous firewater cocktails!!

For an overnight stop, White Bay is secluded and quiet but not at the Soggy Dollar Bar, where boaters put their “dollars” in their swimsuits, jump overboard and swim to shore. Try a delicious flying fish sandwich and enjoy the original “Pain Killer” rum cocktail.

Day Eight – Back to
Beautiful Soper’s Hole

Early morning swim or snorkel before sailing back to the VOYAGE base. Make sure you have some time for last minute shopping in Soper’s Hole.

With so many exquisite islands and beautiful destinations and so much to see and do, one will never grow tire of the adventure and beauty of one of Nature’s Little Secrets, the British Virgin Islands.
